Recap: Denver Gets Doug with High

Chances are if you call yourself a cannabis consumer, you know who Doug Benson is and youd love to smoke marijuana with him. Doug Benson is a veteran comedian of 27 years known for his cannabis-focused comedy. A 2007 documentary Super High Me in which he abstains from marijuana for 30 days and then gets extremely high for the next 30 is a cult classic, and his podcast Getting Doug with High has been going strong for two years, now. Dougs affection for cannabis and his round table discussions with noteworthy people and other comedians in which various topics are discussed are hilarious, interesting, and often revealing in unplanned ways. Last year Benson performed on 4/20 at Denvers Comedy Works, and this year hes brought his popular podcast to Denver to kick off a country-wide tour.

Getting High with Doug at the Oriental Theater in Denver, CO

Monday nights show at the Oriental Theater sold out, and was an absolutely outstanding display of all five talented men who took the stage. The show was filmed and broadcast live for Bensons regular podcast show, and was the first episode the crew has filmed outside of California. For his guests, Doug tapped four men of comedy and other Internet abilities who have made more than one appearance on his show: Geoff Tate, Todd Glass, Kassem G, and Colorados own Josh Blue. The show was sponsored by Denver Relief and Sexy Pizza, as well the exact meaning spoken delivery of sexy and pizza used in combination was also a funny sidetrack during the show.

You could have tuned in last night and watched the show live, or you may want to watch it in the near future. From Dougs comments on last weeks podcast episode, he plans to take Getting Doug on the road, traveling to cities like Chicago and Minneapolis on tour. There is no word on those dates as of yet and its probably still TBD who will show up with Doug. The podcast from last nights show isnt up yet on Doug Bensons YouTube channel, but its expected to go up soon.

Last nights show was side-splittingly funny Im fairly sure I only stopped laughing during the three five minute breaks in filming. Topics ranged from Colorados 420 Cannabis Tours party bus experiences to what type and how much of any cannabis product the comedians had imbibed while in Colorado, and the failure of Doug to scope out the odd positioning of the stools on stage prior to the show. Todd Glass was the only person that had eaten an edible (presumably an Incredibles edible if the sponsors were any indication), sang the praises of Walmarts sushi, and was only able to name two superheroes from the new movie Captain America: Civil War. The film was a consistent topic throughout the night, culminating in a contest to see which of the five men could name all ten (or was it twelve ...
