Maryland Lawmakers Approve Expansion of State’s Medical Marijuana Program

Big steps have been made in Maryland’s reform of the state’s mmj law.  Qualified patients can now access medical marijuana with a recommendation from a specialized physician.  Dispensaries will be allowed to open and the cultivation centers will be limited to 15.   The bill will start June 01st , “we didn’t want this in regulatory limbo for months and months,” said Del. Dan Morhaim, a Democrat from Baltimore County. “We’re trying to get product to patients.”

“The Maryland General Assembly has moved to expand medical marijuana laws in the state, passing a measure that will allow patients to access marijuana if it is recommended by a specialized physician.

The House voted 125-11 and the Senate voted 44-2 to pass a compromise bill late Monday. A conference committee had been appointed to work out differences between House and Senate bills.”
