If you are like most people in the world sitting back and lighting up a joint is illegal where you live. For the longest time, the two key cannabis travel destinations around the world were Amsterdam and Jamaica due to the lax laws surrounding marijuana consumption in those countries. Now though with cannabis legalization progressing and happening in places around the globe the list of cannabis friendly travel destinations is increasing every year.

If you live in the United States the most obvious cannabis friendly travel destination will be one of the three states in the western US that have legalized cannabis for retail or recreational sale, consumption, and possession for those over the age of 21. There are actually four states that have taken these steps but only three currently offer licensed dispensaries where residents and tourists can obtain legal cannabis being Colorado, Washington State, and Oregon. In any of these three states, tourists are able to legally possess up to 28 grams or one ounce of dry cannabis or cannabis-based products. While the amount that you can actually purchase between the states differs as long as you do not have more than one ounce of marijuana or weed infused products in your possession you will not have to fear going to jail.

Lighting up in public places, however, is not legal in the states so you will want to make sure that you secure a place to stay where it is ok for you to partake in a toke in private. Some hotels and resorts do not allow smoking joints or bongs but will permit vaping in their establishments. The best bet though is to locate a cannabis friendly Resort or rental property which are abundant throughout these three states. Many cannabis consumers are lovers of nature and will not be disappointed with the wide variety of natural landscapes and the beauty of these three states.

If you are looking for a travel destination outside of the United States that is friendly to cannabis consumers Jamaica is still a great option as cannabis is very easy to locate and the laws surrounding the possession of it on the island are very relaxed allowing tourist to enjoy the cannabis scene while on vacation. Jamaica also recently announced that they would be placing kiosks within airports that will allow tourists to purchase a permit that makes them completely legal to possess a certain amount of cannabis while in Jamaica.

One thing is for sure, no matter which one of these locations you choose to travel to and inhale the herb, you will enjoy the freedom of doing so legally. Another thing is also certain and that is the fact that the progression of cannabis legalization is in full force and we can only expect many more states and countries around the removing the draconian laws currently surrounding marijuana.
