Colombian Gold Marijuana Strain

Sativa Dominant Hybrid Strain Sativa Dominant Hybrid 75% Sativa / 25% Indica

THC: 19%

Colombian Gold is some seriously old-school marijuana. A close relative of the even more famous Acapulco Gold, this strain was born in the Santa Marta mountains of Colombia and exploded across the United States in the 1960s. Its popularity has since faded dramatically, but it remains an effective tool for treating muscle spasms and chronic pain. THC levels in this strain reportedly test above 19%, so it's a relatively potent choice for patients seeking a calming, energizing, clear-headed cerebral high that can also be used to treat anxiety and depression. CBD levels are much harder to come by, though Colombian Gold has been used to crossbreed strains that are high in that cannabinoid. Still, without more reliable information, this strain shouldn't be used as the sole medication for conditions that respond to CBD, including seizure disorders. Colombian Gold is a near-pure sativa (sativa/indica ratio of at least 75:25), the result of an original Colombian landrace strain. It delivers a smooth but tangy tea flavor and a Skunky aroma with notes of lemon and lime. The buds are covered in visible crystals. Though well past its prime, Colombian Gold still sells relatively well in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and Arizona.

A classic for extended use in parties or small gatherings, sharing many joints with friends. I'm thinking about using it with edibles, since its flavor and aroma usually match well with cake and brownies.

Chicago - First time I even heard of Columbian (1973?) I shared a thinly rolled joint with a friend while in a forest preserve. I remember it's distinctly sweet hashish like aroma and how it expanded in my lungs. 2 maybe 4 hits and my vision actually shifted to a vertical view that was blurry around the sides along with rushes vibrating up and down my body. By far the most wasted I had ever been on anything (including LSD) to that point. I was heavily stoned for a good 4 hours. I remember the gold and red bud going for a whole $20 an ounce in those days. There were a lot of seeds in a bag but it was more than worth the price.

There were so many good strains of Colombian available in the bay area in the late 70s and early 80s all with great flavors and Terpine profiles that you can't find today. I've been smoking herb since 1973 and I think this and the old school Humboldt Indica of the 80s are some of the best bar none!

Found first time early 70's.. can't recall exact year.. 1976 to be exact.. back from "tours" in 'Nam probably.. best bud I ever smoked.. and I don't mean that literally.. probably not even top 20.. but man, nothin will ever top it.. remember clearly first time I ever smoked it.. how could I possibly forget?.. twas a night thou shall always remember.. with thine people thy shall always forget.. love that song.. don't you hate clichés though.. anyways, man, THEY DON'T make em' like they used to anymore huh?.. and even though I can't remember the first time I ever smoked it.. and correct me if I said this.. but it twas a night that I shoog all they remember.. nevermind actually.. ya just one of those things you can never remember to forget.. that was the HARDEST I ever laughed and thats no lie.. but also a severe exaggeration.. anyway till then well meet again another day.. my friend I know this makes no sense

Sometimes you don’t get a buzz very easily, so I take out some columbian gold ,works every time. Only problem is low yields. Thanks J. Herb

First review so..this was good in the 70’s now it’s great!!I love the smell the high it’s all good Real hard to find here thank god for friends!! If u see it around you get it fast it’s worth your time and money 😎✌️

I keep hearing people say they smoked this cultivar in the 1970s. Seeds are around if you look, and I grow it on a rotational basis. Columbian Gold is still a class act by itself but is a good Sativa to use in breeding hybrids. The only complaint is the tediously long flowering period. Yields are moderate.

I miss ColumbianGold. Smoked it back in the early 70’s until it disappeared late 70’s early 80’s. I have not smoked anything yet that was as good as that, the taste and smell are unforgettable, I keep hoping I find that again

I first smoked Santa Marta Gold in 1976. Ir was the most trippy, psychedelic weed I have ever smoked in 40 years. Never had anything like it since about '81. I have heard that is is because they let it completely ripen, tear a strip of stem from the bottom up, chop it when it turns gold and leave it in the sun to dry. I saw spirits in my friends and neighbors and talked to Jesus and His Angels. Best there ever was.
